DR. FRANK MICHAELIS
Has been in private practice from October 1990 to present.
Specialises in solid tumours (brain, prostate, skin, breast, GIT/GUT, lung), with special interest in brain and prostate tumours using Gamma Knife and Brachytherapy Treatment Modalities.

Participated in the Melanoma Tumour Cell Programme as followed by the John Wayne Cancer Institute in California, U.S.A. in 1980 prior to targeted therapy as it is known today.
​
Instrumental in introducing the first Stereotactic Radiation Therapy in South Africa in 1996.
​
Was involved in the radiation treatment and oncology management of President Nelson Mandela from 2001 to 2013.
​
Instrumental in introducing the first Brachytherapy (interstitial radiation therapy) for the treatment of prostate cancer in 2005.
​
Introduced the first Micro Multileaf Collimator for 3-dimensional planning in South Africa at the Olivedale Clinic in 2009.
​
Facilitated the introduction of the only Gamma Knife Machine in Africa (excluding Egypt) in 2016.
​
Instrumental in creating oncology units at Glynnwood Hospital (Benoni Oncology), Clinton Clinic, Rand Clinic, Olivedale Clinic and Krugersdorp Oncology.
